Runners, No. 5

Lines, color blocks, crowd of runners

Created In: United States (US)

Art or talent by : Erin Cooke
Category: Tags: , , ,

This painting is part of my series of Cubist paintings of runners. The first painting in the series was inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2. I loved the motion in his work, and it made me think of how that technique of conveying a sense of movement would lend itself well to depicting the motion of runners. I made several works of runners in racing mode, at the track, running alone, and in a pack.

This particular painting has subdued tones to balance the riot of lines and color blocks. It is signed on the front and read to hang.

Painting: Acrylic on canvas.
Size: 36 H x 24 W x 2.5 inches.
Shipping: Wrapped carefully and shipped in a box.
