As an artist, you have the option of enjoying your membership without having to pay any fees. If you decide to sell on our secure platform, there is a 3% charge on each sale. This policy for Artist Fees and Payments explains how you get paid for sales and how fees are paid.

Artist Fees

1. Fee Types

Studio (free) – There is no charge to be a member of Arts Row or to have your own studio (aka shop).

Posting (free) – It costs nothing to post on Arts Row. Posts expire after 6 months.

Checkout (variable) – When you buy on Arts Row, some small fees apply for processing credit or debit cards, or for using integrated PayPal.

Commission (3%) – 3% of the selling price goes to Arts Row when you use our payment gateway which means the artist keeps 97% of the profits on sales.

2. Getting Paid

Artists can choose to sell their works on our site for a fee of 3% which means they keep 97% profits. Members who choose to sell on Arts Row can accept secure payment by credit card, debit card, PayPal and more. Artists can also accept in-person payments in whatever forms they wish when they choose to complete transactions offline with local patrons.

3. Paying Fees

You are responsible for paying your Arts Row fees (3% of sales) at the time of transaction service. Artists pay their fees by PayPal.

Authorization

You authorize Arts Row to keep your PayPal information securely on file and to charge fees at the time they are purchased.

Charges Review

You can also review your charges any time by accessing your Arts Row account.

Closed or Changed Payment Forms

If your card or PayPal account on file with us is closed or the account number is changed, or if, for any reason, a charge is rejected by your card issuer or PayPal account, you must update your information or add a new card number or PayPal account in your Arts Row account. If your charge is refused by the issuer or PayPal account for any reason, you may be subject to penalties such as the suspension of your account privileges and/or termination, and you are not released from your obligation to pay your bill using any other means. Your authorization applies to any successor account or replacement card you or your card issuer or PayPal account provides.

Updating Billing Information

You may cancel or change your billing by updating your billing settings in your Arts Row account.

Payment Obligations

Whether an Arts Row member is a current, suspended or terminated member, they remain obligated to pay Arts Row for all unpaid fees.

4. Avoiding Fees:  Permissions and Restrictions

Permissions

Artists are encouraged to connect with local buyers where they live to take advantage of the option of completing transactions in person, offline. This allows artists the opportunity to avoid our 3% fee for selling on our platform giving them the flexibility to keep more money in their pockets.

Restrictions

Any sales completed on Arts Row are charged at the time of the use of the provided service. This means that any action by an artist to avoid paying any incurred fees outlined above in the Fee Types and Descriptions is considered fee avoidance and is strictly prohibited by Arts Row. This includes, for example, encouraging buyers to first visit your Arts Row Studio and then move to another online platform to purchase artwork that you’ve posted in your Arts Row Studio in order to avoid the 3% commission fee.

The price stated in each post description within your Arts Row Studio must be accurate.

Artists may not charge excessive shipping fees.

Artists may not alter the price of their work or performance hourly rate after a sale or after being hired for the purpose of avoiding Arts Row transaction fees.

Artists may not misrepresent their location or use another user’s account without permission.
